Alumni Paper Published in Biodiversity and Conservation

The Alternet Summer School brands itself as a “Network for Life”–and the evidence to support that title continues to build up. Most recently, a consortium comprised of 2021 alumni and Summer School contributors have announced the publication of their first paper in the journal Biodiversity and Conservation.

The paper is entitled: “Head in the clouds, feet on the ground: how transdisciplinary learning can foster transformative change—insights from a summer school.” Building off of themes and methods that were explored during both the school programme and unstructured time in Peyresq, the paper considers the transformative potential of transdisciplinary education using the authors’ own experience at the Alternet Summer School as a case study. Elements of this research were first presented by members of the consortium at the 2022 Alternet Conference in Ghent.

The alumni wish to thank Alternet for the support that enabled their work, including providing mobility funding to support two research workshops and, of course, organizing the Alternet Summer School in Peyresq where the initial inspiration and motivation for their work was sparked.
