The 2025 A4Cap (Alternet for Capacity Building) Assembly for Alternet alumni and early-career researchers was the third official network assembly and fourth research and capacity building workshop to be held in Spa, Belgium. With support from Alternet and Biodiversa+, A4Cap has grown from a small, informal group of Summer School alumni to a robust, rapidly expanding network that includes Alternet member ECRs, partners from Alternet’s European projects (BioAgora, CO-OP4CBD), and alumni spanning the full history of the Alternet Summer School.
This year’s programme included research project work on transdisciplinary education, the development of biodiversity research, and the 20-year history of Alternet and its summer school; lectures and skills-sharing sessions; a field trip to the High Fens; networking opportunities; and plenty of time for fun, conversations, and appreciation of the local environmental and cultural landscape.
