CESAM & Alternet Science Policy Webinar – 10 September 2024

Restoring our Ocean and Waters in the Atlantic & Arctic Basin

10 September 2024 | 13:00-14:00 CET

Restoring our Oceans and Waters in the Atlantic & Arctic Basin, an Alternet science-policy webinar hosted by CESAM, Univ. Aveiro will be held on 10 September 2024. Register to attend here.

With a 2030 target, the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” aims to protect and restore the health of our ocean and waters through research and innovation, citizen engagement and blue investments. The Mission’s new approach will address the ocean and waters as one and play a key role in achieving climate neutrality and restoring nature.”

The Mission supports regional engagement and cooperation through “lighthouses,” with the Atlantic-Arctic basin selected as one of the regions to pilot, demonstrate, and implement Mission activities across EU seas and river basins. In this context, three projects are highlighted:

  • BlueMissionAA: An EU Mission Implementation Coordination and Support Action, establishing a hub to support Mission activities in the Atlantic and Arctic Basin, focused on restoring ocean and water health in these regions.
  • CLIMAREST: An innovation action contributing to the development of resilient ecosystems, essential for creating resilient communities.
  • A-AAGORA: An innovation action aimed at coastal restoration, emphasizing the integration of nature and people in the restoration process.

Join the SPI webinar for an introduction to these three key projects, followed by a moderated discussion. This science-policy webinar is free and open to the public.
